Marlins - Week 3

Hello all!!!

There is a TON of information in this email. Please read all the way through.

And now we are headed into our first meet of the season! The weather is looking beautiful, and I am really looking forward to seeing the kids swim again after a year hiatus. I have attached the draft entries for the meet against Davidsonville, at home. I will generally follow the same procedure for every meet moving forward. I promise other emails won't be as long. A few things to keep in mind for this meet and all of the other meets:

  1. Most importantly, if I have made a mistake or you would like to request a change, please let me know by THURSDAY AT NOON. No exceptions due to league rules that I must abide by. Please get in touch with me at [email protected].
  2. I will not promise that I will make the requested stroke changes unless there is a very pressing issue. In some instances, I chose the events because of what other swimmers are doing. I am being conservative for the first meet, specifically with 8&unders and new swimmers in breaststroke and butterfly. Coach Colleen and I are going to look over some of the younger ones this afternoon and make some decisions so entries may change. Thanks for understanding!
  3. If your child is listed in the medley relay, he/she is in the first event! Woohoo! If your child is in the free relay, he/she is in the last event! Yay! Plan accordingly.
  4. COVID protocols- I am attaching COVID information here as a document. Our league reps have agreed to these conditions in order to have an in-person meet. Please go over them and go over them with your children. Succinctly, we are trying to keep the teams as separate as possible and mask up in high traffic areas. Enter and exit the pool with a mask on. Wear a mask anytime you’re under the pool house. I hope to impress upon you that there are not many teams in our league doing in person meets. We believe we can do it well and do it safely, but only with your cooperation. We are anticipating around 220 swimmers plus the one parent allowed which could potentially be 350+ people. If you anticipate being uncomfortable with being around this many people, I urge you to wait until the next meet. We are doing the best we can, but we anticipate some bumps in the road during the first meet.

Erin Jaeger, Brynn Hooper, and I are not going to be the mask/COVID police, but please help us out. It's been a long and difficult year and we're almost there, but I have to put the health and safety of our community at the forefront. Please help me achieve the goal of keeping everyone healthy.

Thank you so much. Looking forward to the weekend! Don't forget to wear your blue spirit gear for color wars!!! Specific meet information and parking instructions will come on Friday, along with a draft meet program. Please be at the pool at 6:50am; meet starts at 8:00am!

GO MARLINS!
